Description
At the top of Mt Krizevac (Cross Mountain), high above the valley where St. James Church is in the center of the Medjugorje parish, a rocky path, now worn from decades of pilgrims climbing to the top while praying. The second path we traversed is on Apparition Hill. It is a very mountainous region, and sheep or goats sometimes graze grasses and weeds between the rich earth and rocks. The shield in the corner is a historic checkerboard, typical Croatian symbol.
The parishioners built a concrete cross in March 15, 1934, to commemorate the 1900 years since Jesus death. Written on the cross: To Jesus Christ, Redeemer of the human race, as a sign of their faith, love, and hope, in remembrance of the 1900 years since the death of Jesus.
